Flight Operations System Support

Operations Support System Software

The Operations Support System (OSS) is a single point access system for all flight operations personnel, from flight operations management to flight crew. The OSS is in essence a sophisticated Document Management System (DMS) which in its basic flight operations form, consists of six modules. Other modules may be added in future to increase the OSS's capabilities.

Management of all relevant flight operations documentation can be handled by the basic OSS. The OSS manages the customer's documentation within its framework as a set of files which have rules and conditions, as determined by the specific customer and it is these rules and conditions which the OSS helps create, manage and update. This way the customer is free to decide which documentation format and provider to use for flight operations support and the OSS will take care of all the operational requirements attributed to the specific documentation.

The OSS is constructed on a web-based client/server model. This model allows access to the system from anywhere, provided a suitable internet connection is available. This is essential for the support of flight crews operating away from base for long periods of time, so much so that it would be an essential component of the operations framework for those aviation companies which do not have a fixed base of operations. Based on this model, the hardware requirements are also minimal.
